3D printing sounds so uncomfortably technical at first - so it´s all the more amazing what breathtakingly organic shapes can be brought to life with it. The printer applies layer after layer of approximately 1mm-thick ceramic until it has worked its way up from the base to the opening after around two and a half (!) hours. The vase is then fired in the kiln at 1,200°C, whereby the fine layered structure is retained - an enchanting contrast to the flowing, light pleated look. Last but not least, Floree is additionally sealed watertight from the inside with a glaze up to half its height. To prevent the fine structure from gradually washing out, it is happy to be cleaned by hand with a soft, damp cloth in the absence of a dishwasher.
