Lithophanes

Made in Limoges, France: Bernardaud still use the traditional engraving technique of Lithophane (which was invented in 1828) on a fine bisque (non-glazed) porcelain to craft beautiful votives that come in a wide variety of patterns. 
The glow of the candle shines through the raised and carved surface of the votive, contrasting light against shadow and thus revealing its richly detailed design.
Beautifully giftboxed and presented with a perfume scented tealight.
